Small Business Strategy And Offer A Model Approach
Abstract One of the most critical activities for a business is to gain and sustain a competitive advantage. This activity can be difficult and time-consuming, especially for a small business where there are many businesses already established in the same industry. Unfortunately, some new business owners do not understand how to gain a competitive advantage or they fail to recognize how important doing this can be for the success of their company. Some new ventures do not secure a market position where there is a reasonable chance of success. Other ventures will struggle to compete with larger competitors, focusing on price. And still other new businesses believe that just by opening their doors, consumers will hurry to buy theirâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦The first stage in which a new or small business should develop an effective competitive advantage is the market entry stage, although it is important to continue to develop and ââ¬Å"tweakâ⬠this strategy all throughout the business life cycle. To successfully enter a market, it is imperative that entrepreneurs develop a sound competitive advantage strategy that will allow them to gain a significant market share to guarantee that the business will succeed. Simply putting an open sign in front of your doors and allowing the public to enter does not ensure a successful venture. It is difficult and rare for a small business to effectively compete with larger businesses and corporations in price, so entrepreneurs should contemplate other competitive approaches to gaining market share. Developing competitive advantage has three key core components (Winer, 2004). According to Winer (2004), the first component is that ââ¬Å"competitive advantage must be able to produce customer value, which is defined by the consumer as lower prices, convenience, or quick delivery timeâ⬠. The second core component is the enhanced value of the product or service provided as perceived by a consumer. Whether or not your product is superior, it must be seen as such by the consumer. Finally, the third component to competitive advantage requires that the business approach an entrepreneur uses should be difficult for competitors to duplicate. An

Citation Schnittker, Jason. 2007. ââ¬Å"Working More and Feeling Better: Womenââ¬â¢s Health, Employment, and Family Life, 1974-2004. We will write a custom essay sample on Working More and Feeling Better ââ¬â Journal Article Summary or any similar topic only for you Order Now American Sociological Review 72(2):221-238. This study investigates the relationship between womenââ¬â¢s employment and health unlike other studies, which have used mental health as the outcome. The research questions addressed in this study were: Has the health of women improved or declined? Has the gender gap in health altered and, if so, why? Does integrating long work hours with caring for a child diminish the relationship between employment and health and, if so, have current work-family patterns restrained any gains in health? Schnittker included changes in composition (e. g. , are more women suffering since more women are combining their jobs with raising a child) and changes in association (e. g. , do the marked improvements in health related to employment lesson with the birth of a child). The changes in composition and changes in association were examined with cumulative trends in health. The independent variables in this study were womenââ¬â¢s work hours, education and family income. The dependent variable was self-rated health. Reported work hours were separated into four categories and the reference category was ââ¬Å"not workingâ⬠for this study. Several control variables were, as well, that are related to understanding trends. Education was divided into four categories with ââ¬Å"less than high schoolâ⬠as the reference category. Family income used a constant of $1, 986 dollars. Schnittker analyzed whether or not children were in the home instead of focusing how many children because of the various work-family adjustments and different levels of responsibility that come with childrenââ¬â¢s different ages. For this study, separate dummy variables were used having a child under the age of 6 and having a child between 6 and 17 years old with having no children under the age of 18 years old presently in the home. The study used data from the cumulative General Social Survey (GSS) taken between 1974-2004. The GSS is represented nationally and uses an area-probability sample. The survey asked responders to self-rate their health as poor, fair, food, or excellent. Self-rated health predicts gender differences, is an indicator of morbidity and predictor of mortality. Findings from the GSS were checked using the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) taken between 1997-2004. The NHIS also provided data concerning the current health trends. Data from the NHIS was produced by personal in-home interviews. The trends in the gender health gap in this study used controls for year, gender, interactions between gender and year, and age and age-squared. Age and age-squared were used to account for the aging population, which is vital for this study since there are sex differences in life expectancy. Findings suggest that the gender gap closed significantly during the 30-year period. Womenââ¬â¢s self-health has significantly improved and menââ¬â¢s self-rated health slightly increased until 1990. Menââ¬â¢s self-rated health has been on a steady decline ever since then. These results suggest a relation between the trends in womenââ¬â¢s improving self-rated health and the gender gap closing. Once Schnittker used controls for education in his analysis it showed that the improvements in womenââ¬â¢s health can be attributable to education. When education was replaced with employment status and family income it showed that some of the improvements in womenââ¬â¢s health can be attributed to the rise in womenââ¬â¢s employment, but not near as much as education. The relationship between work-family patterns and health were examined when Schnittker introduced whether the responder had a child. His findings also show that work hours and having a young child are very related. He found that having a child under 6 causes a decline in employments positive impacts on health. Controls for income slightly reduced the negative relationship. Findings concerning the relationship between work hours and having a child in the home show that fathers report improved self-rated health when working full-time and mothersââ¬â¢ self-rated health drastically decreased. More notably, the findings show that both men and women report worse self-rated health when the combine work with raising children. Out of all independent variables, the one that impacted the diminishing of the gender gap was employment. Education, work hours, and having a child all affected the closing of the gender gap, but not as significantly as employment. Schnittkerââ¬â¢s findings also suggest that self-rated health for women would improve even more if their average work hours were the very same as menââ¬â¢s average work hours. Another notable finding comes out of the inclusion of family income. His findings suggest that if the wages of women were the same as the wagers of men their self-rated health would improve significantly. He also found that the emergence of the time bind has suppressed womenââ¬â¢s self-rated health, especially in recent years. (Schnittker 2007; 233). He also found that the time bind only slightly suppressed womenââ¬â¢s self-rated health and that in the long term, more women working and achieving higher levels of education have had much more of an impact on their self-rated health. Schnittkerââ¬â¢s results show that education and employment are largely impacting the gender gap. Schnittkerââ¬â¢s study shows that womenââ¬â¢s health on average was reported to be worse than menââ¬â¢s. The factors which he attributes the difference self-rated health are the trends related to womenââ¬â¢s increased presence in the work force and the increase in the number of women a higher levels on education. Schnittkerââ¬â¢s study is remarkable. His findings are strong reasons for change to take place with the employment terms of women today. Self-rated health is questionable since it is ââ¬Å"self-ratedâ⬠. Also, the term ââ¬Å"healthâ⬠in the study could be physical health or mental health. Schnittker attributes the His work proves that more research is needed in this area of study. How to cite Working More and Feeling Better ââ¬â Journal Article Summary, Papers

Macbeth - Imagery Essays - Characters In Macbeth,
Macbeth - Imagery In his plays, Shakespeare uses many forms of imagery. Many forms of his imagery are used in his play Macbeth, including the forms of clothing and darkness. Each detail in his imagery, it seems tome, contains an important symbol of the play, and symbols that we must understand if we are to understand either the passage it is in, or the play as a whole. In Macbeth I think that the imagery of clothing is used to suggest that throughout the play, Macbeth is seeking to hide his "disgraceful self" from his eyes and from others. I think that Shakespeare wants to keep alive the ironical contrast between the wretched creature that Macbeth really is and the disguises he assumes to conceal the fact. Secondly, I think that in the play honours are thought of as garments to be worn; likewise, Macbeth is constantly represented symbolically as the wearer of robes not belonging to him. He is wearing an "undeserved dignity." A crucial point in describing the purpose of clothing in Macbeth is the fact that these are not his garments. Therefore, Macbeth is uncomfortable in them because he is continually conscious of the fact that they do not belong to him. In the following passage, the idea constantly recurs that Macbeth's new honours sit ill upon him, like a loose and badly fitting garment, belonging to someone else: New honours come upon him, Like our strange garments, cleave not to their mould, But with the aid of use. The second, most important chain of imagery used to add to the atmosphere is that of the imagery of darkness. In a Shakespearean tragedy a special tone, or atmosphere must be created to show the darkness and blackness in a tragedy. In Macbeth, Shakespeare uses the design of the witches, the guilt in Macbeth's soul, and the darkness of the night to establish the atmosphere. All of the emarkable scenes take place at night or in some dark spot; for instance, the vision of the dagger, the murder of Duncan, the murder of Banquo, and Lady Macbeth's sleepwalking, all occur at night. Darkness is the time when the traveller hastens to reach safety in his inn, when Banquo rides homeward to meet his assassins; furthermore, it is the time when the wolf howls, the owl screams, and when murder steals forth to his work. In Macbeth I think the darkness symbolizes many things. First, and most importantly, it stands for the evil and death in the play. The darkness could partially blind out all of the horrible things that occur in the night. For, only in darkness can such evil deeds be done. Secondly, the darkness shows one of Lady Macbeth's weaknesses: her fear of the dark. In the play, phrases of fear escape from her lips even in sleep. She believes darkness to be the place of torment. In the whole drama, the sun seems to shine only twice. First, in the beautiful but ironical passage when Duncan sees the swallows flirting rounds the castle of death. Next, when at the close the avenging army gathers to rid the earth of its shame. Therefore; I can conclude that darkness is used to establish the evil parts of the play; whereas, daylight is used to establish victory or goodness in a play.

How To Save Your Job When Youââ¬â¢re About To Get Fired
How To Save Your Job When Youââ¬â¢re About To Get Fired Your performance review wasnââ¬â¢t good. Or maybe you just smell the blood in the water. Youââ¬â¢ve got a bad feeling that you- or even your job- is on the chopping block. Rather than just hang your head, admit defeat, and start your job search anew, why not try a few of the following steps to save your job? At least then you can say you gave it your best shot. 1. Stop slacking. If youââ¬â¢ve built a reputation for being lazy, itââ¬â¢s never too late to turn it all around. It will be hard to shake off, but with a bit of work, not impossible! Figure out why you havenââ¬â¢t been giving it your all at work. Eliminate your biggest distractions, like your phone or social media accounts or even particularly chatty coworkers. Identify the projects that you can drum up passion for and then devote yourself to getting stuff done and start delivering real results.2. Take responsibility.Did you miss a deadline? Fail to deliver an important project? You canââ¬â¢t go back in time and undo this, but you can assume full accountability for what happened. Donââ¬â¢t blame anyone but yourself and see how you can fix the problem. Then fix it- fast.3. Handle disgruntled clients. You said something to a client and now theyââ¬â¢re threatening to walk. Figure out- by asking coworkers and team members what went wrong and whether you were inappropriate or out of line- then figure out if the situation is fixable. If you werenââ¬â¢t at fault, approach your boss with the full picture. Be honest and provided you didnââ¬â¢t do anything outrageous, your boss should back you up.4. Stop gossiping.Youââ¬â¢ve been outed as an office gossip- whether for a one time whopper offense, or a routine habit. Youââ¬â¢ve probably got a very narrow window to prove yourself worthy of keeping on. Let your boss know you understand the severity of your behavior and the consequences and insist upon turning over a new leaf. Apologize to any injured parties and behave yourself more professionally in future.5. Have a heart to heart.Itââ¬â¢s not out of line to have a sit-down with your boss and have an honest conversation- especially if you two have been out of touch or out of sync. Ask about the communication lapse. Ask whether there is anything youââ¬â¢re not doing or delivering that you could focus on improving. Reiterate your passion and commitment to the position and make it clear youââ¬â¢ll do whatever it takes to stay on board.6. Make a performance improvement plan.Say your performance has been lackluster, and your boss confirms that youââ¬â¢re not in the best of standing. Sit down and come up with a plan with clear indicators of renewed success. Then set about systematically meeting every goal on your plan tick by tick. Get yourself out of your slump as soon as you can. It will be much easier with clear guidelines. And donââ¬â¢t be afraid to ask for coaching and/or feedback.7. Go the extra mile. With everything. Make yourself an expert in a new software. Make a positive and lasting contribution- the bigger the better. Have a stellar attitude at all times. Help out your team and coworkers. Anticipate your bossââ¬â¢s needs. Show your value to the company and your strengths as a team player and youââ¬â¢ll be in much better shape. The crucial thing is to make sure youââ¬â¢re taking steps to bulk up your careerà and making changes- and lasting ones. Slapping a temporary band-aid on the situation will not save your job. Overhauling your work ethic and performance, however, just might do the trick!

The Great Gatsby: Chapter 3Summary Nick describes watching endless parties going on in Gatsbyââ¬â¢s house every weekend. Guests party day and night and then on Mondays servants clean up the mess. Everything is about excess and a sense of overkill. Each weekend, guests are ferried back and forth to Manhattan by Rolls-Royce, crates of oranges and lemons are juiced, an army of caterers sets up tents and lighting, food is piled high, the bar is overwhelmingly stocked, and there is a huge band playing. It's an even bigger deal than it sounds because all this is happeningduring the Prohibition, when alcohol was supposedly unavailable. The first night Nick goes to Gatsbyââ¬â¢s for a party, heââ¬â¢s one of a very few actually invited guests. Everyone else just crashes. At the party, Nick is ill at ease. He knows no one. Thereââ¬â¢s a surprising number of English people at the party, who seem desperate to get their hands on American money. No one knows where Gatsby himself is. Nick hangs out near the bar until he sees Jordan Baker.Nick and Jordan chat with other party people. A young woman tells them that at another one of these parties, when she ripped her dress by accident, Gatsby sent her a very expensive replacement. They gossip about what this odd behavior means. One rumor has it that Gatsby killed someone, another that he was a German spy. Food is served, which Nick and Jordan eat at a table full of people from East Egg, who look at this insane party with condescension. Theydecide to find Gatsby since Nick has never actually met him. In his mansion, they end up in the library, which has ornately carved bookshelves and reams of books.A man with owl-eyed spectacles enthuses about the fact that all these books are actually real ââ¬â and about the fact that Gatsby hasnââ¬â¢t cut their pages (meaning heââ¬â¢s never read any of them). Back out in the garden, guests are now dancing, and several famous opera singers perform. Some partygoers also perform relatively risquà © acts. Nick and Jordan sit down at a table with a man who recognizes Nick from the army. After talking about the places in France where they were stationed during the war, the man reveals that he is Gatsby.Gatsby flashes the worldââ¬â¢s greatest and most seductive (not sexually, just extremely appealingly) smile at Nick and leaves to take a phone call from Chicago. Nick demands more information about Gatsby from Jordan, who said that Gatsby calls himself an Oxford man (meaning, he went to the University of Oxford). Jordan says that she doesnââ¬â¢t believe this, and Nick lumps the info in with all the other rumors heââ¬â¢s heard (that Gatsby had killed a man, that he was Kaiser Wilhelmââ¬â¢s nephew, that he was a German spy, etc.). The orchestra strikes up the latest number one hit.Nick notices Gatsby looking over his guests with approval. Gatsby neither drinks, nor dances, nor flirts with anyone at the party. When Jordan is suddenly and mysteriously asked to speak to Gatsby alone, Nick watches a drunk guest weep and then pass out. He notices fights breaking out between other couples. Even the group of people from East Egg are no longer on their best behavior. Despite the fact that the party is clearly over, no one wants to leave. As Nick is getting his hat to leave, Gatsby and Jordan come out of the library. Jordan tells Nick that Gatsby has just told her something amazing ââ¬â but she canââ¬â¢t reveal what. She gives Nick her number and leaves. Nick finds Gatsby, apologizes for not seeking him out earlier. Gatsby invites him to go out on his hydroplane the next day, and Nick leaves as Gatsby is summoned to a phone call from Philadelphia. He waves goodbye from the steps of his mansion, looking lonely. Outside, the man with the owl-eyed spectacles from the library has crashed his car. An even drunker man emerges from the driverââ¬â¢s seat of the wreck and is comically but also horrifyingly confused about what has happened. Suddenly, the narrative is interrupted by present-day Nick. He thinks that what heââ¬â¢s been writing is probably giving us the wrong idea. He wasnââ¬â¢t fixated on Gatsby during that summer ââ¬â this fixation has only happened since then. That summer, he spent most of his time working at his second or third-tier bond trading company, Probity Trust, and had a relationship with a coworker. He started to really like the crowded and anonymous feel of Manhattan, but also felt lonely. In the middle of the summer, Nick reconnects with Jordan Baker and they start dating. He almost falls in love with her and discovers that under her veneer of boredom, Jordan is an incorrigible liar. She gets away with it because in the rigid upper-class code of behavior, calling a woman out as a liar would be improper. Nick suddenly remembers the story he had read about her golfing career: Jordan was accused of cheating by moving her ball to a better lie, but the witnesses later recanted and nothing was proven. When Nick complains that Jordan is a terrible driver, she answers that she relies on the other people on the road to be careful instead of her.Nick wants to take their relationship further, but reigns himself in because he hasnââ¬â¢t fully broken off the non-engagement back home that Tom and Daisy had asked him about earlier. He claims that he is one of the few honest people that heââ¬â¢s ever met. So, lots of car accidents, and talk about car accidents, all in the vicinity of alcohol? Can you say foreshadowing? Key Chapter 3 Quotes I believe that on the first night I went to Gatsby's house I was one of the few guests who had actually been invited. People were not invited- they went there. They got into automobiles which bore them out to Long Island and somehow they ended up at Gatsby's door. Once there they were introduced by somebody who knew Gatsby and after that they conducted themselves according to the rules of behavior associated with amusement parks. Sometimes they came and went without having met Gatsby at all, came for the party with a simplicity of heart that was its own ticket of admission. (3.7) Gatsbyââ¬â¢s parties are the epitome of anonymous, meaningless excess ââ¬â so much so that people treat his house as a kind of public, or at least commercial, space rather than a private home. This is connected to the vulgarity of new moneyââ¬â you canââ¬â¢t imagine Tom and Daisy throwing a party like this. Or Nick for that matter. The random and meaningless indulgence of his parties further highlights Gatsby's isolation from true friends. As Jordan says later, large parties are great because they provide privacy/intimacy, so Gatsby stands alone in a sea of strangers having their own intimate moments. A stout, middle-aged man with enormous owl-eyed spectacles was sitting somewhat drunk on the edge of a great table, staring with unsteady concentration at the shelves of books. â⬠¦He waved his hand toward the book-shelves. "About that. As a matter of fact you needn't bother to ascertain. I ascertained. They're realâ⬠¦."Absolutely real- have pages and everything. I thought they'd be a nice durable cardboard. Matter of fact, they're absolutely real. Pages and- Here! Lemme show you." Taking our skepticism for granted, he rushed to the bookcases and returned with Volume One of the "Stoddard Lectures." "See!" he cried triumphantly. "It's a bona fide piece of printed matter. It fooled me. This fella's a regular Belasco. It's a triumph. What thoroughness! What realism! Knew when to stop too- didn't cut the pages. But what do you want? What do you expect?" (3.41-50) Belasco was a renowned theatrical producer, so comparing Gatsby to him here is a way of describing the library as a stageset for a play ââ¬â in other words, as a magnificent and convincing fake. This sea of unread books is either yet more tremendous waste of resources, or a kind of miniature example of the fact that a personââ¬â¢s core identity remains the same no matter how many layers of disguise are placed on top. Gatsby has the money to buy these books, but he lacks the interest, depth, time, or ambition to read and understand them, which is similar to how he regards his quest to get Daisy. He smiled understandingly- much more than understandingly. It was one of those rare smiles with a quality of eternal reassurance in it, that you may come across four or five times in life. It faced- or seemed to face- the whole external world for an instant, and then concentrated on you with an irresistible prejudice in your favor. It understood you just so far as you wanted to be understood, believed in you as you would like to believe in yourself and assured you that it had precisely the impression of you that, at your best, you hoped to convey. Precisely at that point it vanished- and I was looking at an elegant young rough-neck, a year or two over thirty, whose elaborate formality of speech just missed being absurd. Some time before he introduced himself I'd got a strong impression that he was picking his words with care. (3.76) Lots of Gatsbyââ¬â¢s appeallies in his ability to instantly connect with the person he is speaking to, to make that person feel important and valued. This is probably what makes him a great front man for Wolfsheimââ¬â¢s bootlegging enterprise, and connects him with Daisy, who also has a preternaturally appealing quality ââ¬â her voice. Dishonesty in a woman is a thing you never blame deeply- I was casually sorry, and then I forgot. (3.161) The offhanded misogyny of this remark that Nick makes about Jordan is telling in a novel where women are generally treated as objects at worst or lesser beings at best. Even our narrator, ostensibly a tolerant and nonjudgmental observer, here reveals a core of patriarchal assumptions that run deep. Every one suspects himself of at least one of the cardinal virtues, and this is mine: I am one of the few honest people that I have ever known. (3.171) There are layers of meaning and humor here. First, the humor: While in Christian tradition there is the concept of cardinal virtues, honesty is not one of them. So here, since the phrase ââ¬Å"cardinal sinâ⬠is the more familiar concept, there is a small joke that Nickââ¬â¢s honesty is actually a negative quality, a burden. Nick is telling us about his scrupulous honesty a second after heââ¬â¢s revealed that heââ¬â¢s been writing love letters to a girl back home every week despite wanting to end their relationship, and despite dating a girl at his office, and then dating Jordan in the meantime. So honesty to Nick doesnââ¬â¢t really mean what it might to most people. Second, the meaning: What does it mean to have our narrator tell us in one breath that he is honest to a fault, and that he doesnââ¬â¢t think that most other people are honest? This sounds like a humblebrag kind of observation. But also, we need to question Nickââ¬â¢s ability to understand/empathize with other people if he thinks he is on such a removed plane of existence from them. And of course since he just showed us that he is not actually all that honest only a paragraph ago, we need to realize that his narration is probably not completely factual/accurate/truthful. Plus, this observation comes at the end of the third chapter, after we've met all the major players finally - so it's like the board has been set, and now we finallt have enough informationto distrustour narrator. I guess weââ¬â¢re going with ââ¬Å"Nick Carraway: Worldââ¬â¢s Most Honest Liarâ⬠on this one? Chapter 3 Analysis This is a good time to step back from the plot and the text to see how this chapter connects to the book's bigger picture. Themes and Symbols Money and Materialism. Nothing says Roaring 20s excess like the insane party Gatsby throws. In Nickââ¬â¢s description, itââ¬â¢s an explosion of decorations, food, alcohol, music, and anonymous guests who donââ¬â¢t even know the host. This, combined with the over-the-top level of entertainment he provides is jarring even for the wealthy West Egg crowd, and speaks to the materialism and conspicuous display of consumption the novel deplores. Itââ¬â¢s interesting that Gatsby orchestrates but doesnââ¬â¢t participate in his extravaganzas ââ¬â even the guests become display pieces of his wealth as he stands above them and watches. Society and Class. At the same time, we get a sense of the West Egg/East Egg divide as Jordan Bakerââ¬â¢s East Egg friends stick together and do not mix with the rest of the guests, regarding them as vulgar and beneath them. Mutability of Identity. The beautifully decorated libraryfilled with books that have never been read speaks to Gatsbyââ¬â¢s theatrical approach to crafting his new identity. He can create the trapping and appearance of an Oxford man, but doesnââ¬â¢t have the background or inner resources to actually be one.At the same time, the mystery around Gatsby deepens. We get new theories about his background - he killed a man, he was a German spy during the war, he went to Oxford. And we also see him doing all sorts of inexplicable things ââ¬â taking business phone calls from Chicago and Philadelphia, telling Jordan something secret and fascinating, not actually partying at his own party. At the same time, we get the first glimpse into the ââ¬Å"greatâ⬠Gatsby ââ¬â that dazzling smile that captivates Nick with its empathy and connection. Motifs: Sports. We get our second mention of organized sports in Nickââ¬â¢s brief description of a golf cheating scandal that Jordan was involved with. He chalks it up to her general tendency to lie. Golf is the perfect sport for Jordan to play. It is a game that is highly ordered by social rules and customs, so it fits neatly into her lying MO- she relies on the idea that accusing a woman of cheating is seen as ungentlemanly. Jordan Baker: using the staid rules of the behavior of the upper crust to leverage her golf game, like a boss. Crucial Character Beats Nick and Jordan meet the man with the owl-eyed spectacles (a mysterious and yet somehow important minor figure - later, he will be the only person who will show up to Gatsbyââ¬â¢s funeral) who shows them Gatsbyââ¬â¢s library of unread books. Like the rest of Gatsbyââ¬â¢s life, this library is just window-dressing. We finally meet Gatsby! The title character of the book doesnââ¬â¢t appear until Chapter 3 ââ¬â and by this point, heââ¬â¢s no longer just a man. Heââ¬â¢s a myth and a legend. His actual appearance doesnââ¬â¢t dispel the mystery, but deepens it: why is he getting business phone calls on a weekend? How does a man as young as he is have this kind of money? Why doesnââ¬â¢t he participate in his own party? Why doesnââ¬â¢t Nick describe what he looks like (the way he does every other person in the book)? The owl-spectacles man and his even drunker companion crash a car that they have no idea how to drive. This alarming combination of driving and alcohol is here played for laughs, but is also an important bit of foreshadowing. The foreshadowing is laid on even thicker when Jordan says that as a careless driver, she relies on other people to watch out for her, and Nick points out the danger of two careless people meeting on the road. Present-day Nickinterrupts his story to let us know that the things that he is describing as significant now didnââ¬â¢t appear so at the time. This both shows how much his fascination with Gatsby has grown over time, and makes the novelââ¬â¢s heavy use of foreshadowing all the more significant. Nick and Jordan start dating, and he realizes that she is a compulsive liar. Whatââ¬â¢s Next? Learn more about what makes Jordan tick in preparation for the next chapter, when she will take over narrator duties for a while. Consider the role the motifs of music, alcohol, and sports play in the novel. Think about how Gatsbyââ¬â¢s parties have been portrayed in the movie adaptations of this novel, since these are the scenes that have become iconic in the way Gatsby has seeped into the larger culture. The Experiences of Men Diagnosed with Breast Cancer - Assignment Example Following the conduction of the study, the researchers recommended that public and health professionals should raise awareness on male breast cancer in order to encourage men to undergo testing in order to identify breast cancer and the related malignancies in their early stages (Boehmer 2012). Because of the rampant cases of late discovery of breast cancer in male patients, the study would act as a major contribution towards the enhancement of better public health. The study will be a key source material for other studies aimed at the topic of breast cancer in men. The research problem, in this case, has a clear definition of coming up with the adequate level of evidence to ensure effective medical care in the complex healthcare settings (Quach 2012). It is important to note that global health practice environment is becoming more complex, with professional requirements and patient demands increasing by the day. With such dynamic settings and demands, health professionals need adequate evidence in order to make the right health-related decisions. With this in mind, the problem is significant enough to justify the investigation. The literature review provides an adequate core evidence synthesis on the topic of the study. It involves an analysis of the available literature and thus, a judgment of the effectiveness of the practice. The literature review acts as a predetermined plan of minimizing bias in researching the topic of the study, as well as a process of ensuring rigor in making findings. The literature review of the research study creates a good basis for the stating of the hypotheses and the research questions that are involved in the study. However, the study does not clearly state the research questions. However, it able to depict the researchersââ¬â¢ won speculation that male patients diagnosed with breast cancer depict signs of psychological problems, such as depression.
